Rutger`s PIs are often required to sign DUAS as read and understood. Rutgers strongly recommends that its PIs read duaS thoroughly before signing. Not all DUAs are created equal and it is very important that Rutger`s PIs and Key Personnel understand and comply with the terms set out in the agreement. A covered business (for example. B Stanford) may use a member of its own staff to create the “limited file”. On the other hand, the recipient can also create a “limited set of data” as long as the person or entity acts as counterparty to the covered business. A Data Use Agreement (DUA) is a written contract used to regulate the transfer and use of data between organizations developed by non-profit organizations, governments or the private sector when the data is not public or is subject to certain restrictions on its use and is used for research purposes. Once the restricted data set has been established under the BAA, all IHP, with the exception of IHP, which are qualified as a limited dataset in accordance with the DUA, must be returned to UA. The process of designing, verifying, and negotiating data use agreements depends on the data, data source, expected uses, and adherence to Rutgers guidelines.. . .
